What We Do

As a token of our gratitude for the support the Friends give the MNAC, the Foundation organises various activities throughout the year which correspond to our main objectives: discovering the works of art, the artisans or artists, and the forms of Catalan art from past to present; continuous learning about our history through our artistic heritage; and, ultimately, experiencing art from a closer vantage point.

Guided Visits

The Friends of the MNAC design for our members guided visits around the collection with specialists, visits to temporary exhibitions with the curator (which usually take place when the Museum is closed to the public), annual visits to the Museum’s additional stock and restoration workshops, unique visits to other cultural teams, and guided visits to exhibitions which complement the MNAC collection in some respect in other museums across the city.

Cultural Excursions

Throughout the year the Friends of the MNAC offer different types of excursions to experience art close up: itineraries on foot; a day out by coach; weekend trips; and four- or five-day personalised cultural trips.

Courses and Conferences

The Friends of the MNAC annually programme courses and conferences of the highest level with the aim of consolidating the MNAC’s reputation as a prestigious institution which hosts events of great artistic and academic interest.

Family Days

To coincide with the school holidays, the Friends of the MNAC organise dynamic visits aimed at the Friends’ children and grandchildren in order to bring the Museum’s collection to life for little ones and to transmit the enjoyment of our heritage.

Friends’ Night

The Friends of the MNAC show our gratitude for the support of our members in an annual event organised in collaboration with the Maria Canals International Music Competition.
